At its meeting yesterday, the Town of the Blue Mountains’ Council passed a motion to locate the previously approved outdoor pickleball courts to the Tomahawk Recreation Complex instead of Bayview Park. The spokesperson for Friends of Bayview Park, Jayne Sutherland, released the following statement:

“On behalf of Friends of Bayview Park and many Thornbury residents, I want to express my appreciation and thanks to the Town of the Blue Mountains’ Council and the Blue Mountains Pickleball Club for approving and supporting the relocation of the future outdoor Pickleball courts from Bayview Park to the Tomahawk Recreation Complex.

The location of the courts in a non-residential area is the ideal solution for all. It addresses the concerns about the unavoidable noise of pickleball and preserves a treasured green space in Bayview Park. I’m sure current and future pickleball players will find the recreation complex, with plenty of parking and room to grow, a perfect venue for this increasingly popular sport,” concluded Sutherland.
